The Dunwoody Police Department is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Detective Jordan Laverty, whose life was defined by quiet strength, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to duty.

Detective Laverty served eight years with the Dunwoody Police Department, following three years with the DeKalb County Police Department. In every role, he earned the respect and admiration of those around him—not just for his skill and service, but for his steady presence and sincere devotion to others.

Colleagues remember him as someone who showed up—every day, every shift, for every call—with integrity and heart. He was the kind of officer others looked up to and relied on, both in and out of uniform.

His passing leaves a profound void, one that will be deeply felt by his department, his fellow officers, and the countless lives he touched.
